Glass Canopy for The Swan Pub, Kibworth
As part of an overall refurbishment project, the new owners of this village pub wanted to improve their outdoor space. This consisted of an enclosed courtyard to the rear of the property which had a tired overall feel to it.
There was already a rather antiquated retractable shade here which can be seen in the ‘before’ images below. As well as being somewhat unattractive, it wasn’t very successful at keeping inclement weather at bay.
Loca Shading Designs’ more effective creative solution led to the installation of:
- A combined glass and retractable flat roof system.
- The fixed glass provides excellent weatherproofing as well as flooding the area with natural light, even when the roof is closed.
- When the sun is shining the roof can be opened up for the full ‘al fresco dining experience.
- During colder months, the addition of a log burning stove takes care of heating duties in a snug fashion.
- The development has completely rejuvenated the space visually and effectively extended the footprint of the pub, with a vast number of additional covers that are utilised throughout the year.
