The Chaser Inn, Shipbourne
The Chaser Inn is a traditional British pub set in the heart of the Kent countryside. The property featured an irregular shaped outdoor area that had previously been partially covered by a marquee. Unfortunately, not even the covered section was entirely successful in keeping the elements at bay.
As a result, the space was unpractical to use during much of the year.
Loca Shading Designs proposed:
- A retractable roof system offering full coverage for the area.
- A special translucent roof fabric enables light to filter through whilst still maintaining an effective barrier against the elements.
- Glass roof infills further enhance the airy feel and a wood-burning stove effectively heats the space, while also creating a warm welcoming atmosphere.
- The finished design successfully combines engineering ingenuity with a contemporary aesthetic.
