Retractable Outdoor Roof for Hash Bar & Kitchen, Darlington
This was a really interesting project in Darlington, the home of the first-ever railway service in 1825. The town has recently reinvented itself as a tourist attraction and Hash wanted to attract more of these new visitors.
Hash caters for a real mix of customer demographics with a traditional cafe sitting alongside a cocktail bar and live music venue. A roof terrace linked the two businesses, providing useful additional seating space in fine weather. But at other times customers were vulnerable to the elements when moving between the two areas.
Undoubtedly the act of walking outside in order to access the function rooms compromised their usefulness and popularity.
